We visited the India Gate restaurant on the 9th june 2010 after reading and seeing the flyers that had been left around the town.
The flyer says that the restaurant has been voted ” BEST INDIAN FOOD IN BENIDORM ” and India Gate is known to be the Largest and Finest Indian Restaurant in Benidorm, but I cannot find anywhere or anyone that says this apart from the restaurant itself.
The restaurant is very clean and modern with good service and pleasant staff but that is as far as it goes, the portions of food were very small and would leave a mouse begging for more let alone Oliver, also every dish of food served was very very salty and you could not taste the spices because of this. The curry sauce in the Chicken Pathia was very dry and tasted disgusting mainly because of the salt.
The Chicken Tikka Massala was also a huge dissapointment, and seemed to be made with a condensed tomato soup and lacked the creamy thick sauce usually associated with a Massala, and was quite frankly inedable and was also put to one side.
Nan breads are small and flat and more like chapat’s, also I thought that the prices were a little on the expensive side and you were paying for the service and the look of the place rather than excellent food, which it most definately was not.
So after looking forward to an authentic Indian meal in Benidorm we felt cheated and thought that you can get a better curry dish in one of the bars or cafe’s spattered in and around Benidorm and for this reason I would definately NOT recommend this restaurant for an evening out. “Aviod at all costs”
